Dude, do you really believe the Bible is true?

Yes, I believe the Bible is true history in which God reveals Himself to the human race. It has been my experience that most people who do not believe the Bible are simply unfamiliar with its historical veracity.
"Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous
judgments endureth for ever."
-Psalm 119:160
"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."
-Psalm 12:6-7Secular historians acknowledge
the historicity of the Bible
Tacitus the Roman historian, AD 112 wrote that Jesus "was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius." -
Annals XV.44
Lucian, a satirist in the second century AD referred to Jesus as "the man who was crucified in Palestine" who persuaded his followers "that they were all brothers" and that they should deny the Greek gods and worship him. -
On the Death of Peregrine.Josephus the first century Jewish historian referred to
Jesus as "the so called Christ" whose disciples reported that "he appeared to them three days after his crucifixion and that he was alive." -
Antiquities XVIII.33, XX.9.1
Suetonius another Roman historian, wrote of the Jews who were expelled from Rome because they "made constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus" (an alternative spelling of Christ).
Life of Claudius 25:4
Pliny the Younger, AD 112, wrote that early Christians met together to sing "a hymn to Christ as to a god and bound themselves to a solemn oath not to do any wicked deeds." -
Epistles X.96
Thallus born in Samaria (part of biblical Israel) AD 52, wrote in his histories: "It was at the season of the Paschal full moon that Christ died." Julius Africanus quotes Thallus around AD 190, in
Chronographiai, as recorded by Eusebius in the
Chronicon. The Babylonian Talmud says of Jesus: "On the eve of Passover they hanged Yeshua (of
Nazareth)... in that he had practiced sorcery and beguiled and led astray Israel." -
Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 43aThe point is that ancient historians contemporary with New Testament times acknowledge the historicity of the New Testament record.
Jesus affirmed the Old Testament
Jesus confirmed the truth of the Old Testament, leaving no doubt that He believed it to be true.
Jesus said: "Scripture cannot be broken" John 10:34
Jesus said: "it must be fufilled" Luke 24:44
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for not knowing what the Old Testament actually said. "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God" Matthew 22:29
Jesus said everything in the Old Testament will be fulfilled. "one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fufilled" Matthew 5:18
Jesus taught the authenticity and
historicity of the Old Testament.
Jesus confirmed:
a. That Adam and Eve were created by God - Matthew 19:4
b. That Cain killed Abel - Matthew 23:35
c. That a flood destroyed the world in Noah's time - Luke 17:27
d. That God spoke to Moses from the burning bush - Luke 20:37
e. That Elijah performed miracles - Luke 4:25
f. That Jonah was in the whale three days - Matthew 12:40
g. That the prophet Daniel made true predictions - Matthew 24:15
What makes Jesus' statements significant is that modern skeptics attack believing the Bible on all of these points. Therefore we are forced to make a decision.
Do we believe the Jesus or do we believe the skeptics? Do we believe Jesus or do we believe the Bible?
If we follow Jesus' lead, Christians believe the Old Testament is inspired scripture, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, exactly as Jesus believed.

Student's Original question:
"Like seriously dude, how can anyone believe all those stories happened? I grew up in church and even I don't believe that stuff. And another thing, the Bible has been rewritten so many times. One of my professors says most of the Bible was written thousands of years after it happened.
Its just a political document that reinforces man's domination of women. I gotta wonder about people who believe the Bible. I'd respect you more if you just admitted its fantasy, kinda cool in some places but more like a fairy tale than true. No offense, just wanted to ask."
